The Librotas Writing Retreat is for entrepreneurs, experts and thought leaders who want time, creative space and support to work on their book.
Next date: Saturday 22 April 2023, Southeast Spain
Get to the heart of what you stand for, step into your creativity and discover how to effectively showcase your wisdom, story and expertise.
Immerse yourself in your writing with seven nights accommodation in our retreat centre in the heart of the Almonzora Valley, SE Spain. Inclusive of book mentoring, all meals and non-alcoholic drinks, local excursions and airport transfers in Spain, so you can focus on you and your needs.
Get full access to the swimming pool, jacuzzi, and soul-nourishing places to write, with time out to relax, refresh and recharge.
In day-to-day life, despite your best intentions to get your book done, you probably feel like there are never enough hours in the day. With work commitments, caring responsibilities, and other urgent things demanding your attention, your book goes to the bottom of the list. Hoping you can get your book done in the odd hour every now and then isn’t going to cut it.
It’s easy to get frustrated, feel fed up ‒ and give up ‒ because you don’t give your ideas the quality time they need.
When you step away from the daily grind, it gives your creative brain the chance to fire up. That's why you have your best ideas in the shower, at 4am in the morning or whilst you’re out in nature. Not when you're sitting at your desk.
So, how would it be if you could take a week away to be creative, where you could spend this time guilt-free focusing on your book and your dream to become a published author?
The Librotas writing retreat will help you to finally make your book happen.
This is our eighth retreat, and we know the magic that happens when you only need to focus on yourself and what you wish to achieve in the peaceful Spanish countryside.
You can explore and clarify your thoughts with one of our experienced book coaches, meaning that you’ll gain focus on the goal for your book and get insights into what you wish to create.
You can get feedback on what you’re developing, so that you find your voice, create a solid blueprint, and uncover new easy-to-implement habits for when you return home.
And if you find yourself stuck, procrastinating or getting in your own way, we’ll help you to shift anything that’s preventing you from showing up as your very best self.
So, you grow in confidence and belief in your message, and get absolute certainty that people want to read what you want to say.
When is the best time to attend our writing retreat?
The Librotas writing retreat is an immersive experience that will support you at any stage during your book journey. Whether you need facilitated time to get your ideas and thoughts clear, uninterrupted time to write or edit your book, or space to plan your launch or marketing activities.
If you’re in the early stages, we’ll do a deep dive into your thoughts and ideas and help you to create a blueprint that links firmly with your business goals and aspirations. You will also have time to get started with your writing.
If you’ve already got a plan, you’ll have plenty of time for high quality writing, plus the chance to get feedback and explore your process and stories.
If you’ve reached the first draft, then you’ll get help to finish and polish your manuscript, so that you create a marketable product with a solid launch plan.
And if you've already published your book, we can help you to formulate your marketing and social media plan.
With daily walks and focused writing time, our writing retreats offer space and time away from the distractions of day-to-day life to inspire your thinking, blended perfectly with downtime to reflect and relax.
You can step back from reality and interact with other writers who understand what it's like to have the desire to write a book and want to step up in their business, and you can also spend time on your own guilt-free.
You can write safely in the knowledge that an experienced and knowledgeable book mentor is just a few steps away when you need one-to-one support.
We will help you to tune in and truly listen to your own wisdom, giving you greater confidence in yourself and your story.
Imagine your book launch with your book in your hand, knowing you have even greater clarity and confidence in what you know, as well as increased visibility, and more client bookings.
What would it be like to know that your wisdom will live on as a legacy of your experiences?
How will you feel when someone tells you how your book has changed their life?
And what will it be like when you easily attract clients who already know what you do and how you work?
You no longer have to sell, you simply attract.
The dates and location
Our 2023 writing retreat starts on Saturday 22 April and there are a maximum of seven places available for this immersive experience.
We plan* to run the retreat at Casa Torreta Blanca in Partaloa, Southeast Spain, near Almeria. One of the sunniest regions in Spain and unspoiled by tourism, it is a beautiful place to explore the mountains and desert and only a 40-minute drive from the popular resort of Mojacar.
Casa Torreta Blanca is a converted Spanish farmhouse with a private pool, sun-soaked terraces, and a jacuzzi spa that overlooks mountains in the stunning Almonzora Valley.
To get you ready and focused, we will hold a 60-minute group call prior to the retreat, which will enable you to meet our other authors, and you’ll be invited to a 60-minute group call afterwards to keep you on track.
Seven nights’ accommodation in your own room and private shower room in a beautiful retreat space.
The retreat is fully catered (breakfast, lunch, dinner and non-alcoholic refreshments – water, tea, coffee, cordial) and our chef can cater for different dietary requirements.
You will have five full days to write, with extensive mentoring and coaching support from our coach and mentor when you need it, with the ability to pick our brains, get feedback on your writing, chat through your ideas, or have ad hoc workshops or training sessions.
There will be an optional day out in the middle of the retreat, likely a trip to one of the local villages, and a lazy few hours at the beach or walking (weather dependent), with travel and lunch included.
We are planning other activities at the retreat, such as a yoga or meditation session, a traditional Spanish tapas evening with our hosts, pizza night and outdoor cinema experience.
Access to all the facilities in the retreat, including jacuzzi, swimming pool, spacious outside and inside spaces, and local walks can be organised.
Transfers to and from the airport in Spain (when you travel with the group to and from our designated airport).
30-minute spa treatment included in the package (to be booked in advance) and other treatments available to book at your own expense.
BONUS: Membership of the Smart Author - Self-study six week programme with Book Launch Blueprint course (Karen's #1 Amazon bestseller plan) and complimentary 30 minute 1-2-1 book mentoring call (value $497).
Take advantage of our early bird offers (ends 31 December 2022).
Early Bird Offer £2750+VAT (normal price £2950+VAT). Pay in a single installment and get a free one-hour book mentoring call with Karen worth £300.
Or pay via five equal instalments of £550+VAT (early bird) or £590+VAT (normal price). The full balance needs to be paid four weeks before the retreat.
Invoices will be provided so you can claim this on your tax return - though please check with your accountant first.
Please note that you will need to arrange your own travel insurance and flights to Spain – details of the flights will be made available once they have been confirmed by the airlines and advice will be given if you are travelling from outside of the UK.
If you travel to a different airport or arrive at a different time to the rest of the group or you prefer to travel independently, you are welcome to hire a car (directions will be provided).
*We are aware that during this Covid period, things remain uncertain, so please be mindful that this venue could change if restrictions force us to do so. However, we have a plan B for the UK and will do our best to replicate the Spanish experience. A decision will be made before flights are booked.
What people have said about our previous retreats:
“The writing retreat is more than a space for writing, experimenting with your words and getting feedback. It's about understanding your process. It's about getting insight into what you want to say. It's about rest. There were lots of self-discoveries in this space - reflection, soul-searching and exploring your creative side deeply.” Alison Curtis
“For first-time authors, you'll learn in five days what could take you five years. Investing in this kind of retreat gives you a huge amount in a short space of time. I got so many benefits and especially have learnt how to become unmasked and write as myself.” Jenny Gordon
“I put huge pressure on myself to write and as a result I found myself feeling emotional. Thanks to the magical space and the high quality of facilitation, I was able to work through those feelings and gain clarity of the structure I needed to not only create space in my mind to write on the retreat but also to set myself up for success when I returned. Just sharing my story made me realise how important it is for me to share my experience to prevent others from suffering. The more I write, the more clarity and confidence I gain about how I work and how I add value. I feel lighter in myself and like there is less pressure and I can already feel clients being attracted to me.” Martine Louis
“This has been the best retreat for book writing and learning. Karen gave great support and encouragement, touching base with us, giving us intensive support when required, and the space to get on with our writing. Everything was organised in conjunction with a local host who gave us all the best local food, cheese, and sights, without taking away valuable time for writing. The location was lovely with beautiful scenery. It was the perfect retreat and highly recommended.” Wendy Wyatt
“In the space of 5 days I have come up with a business and action plan that makes sense and is aligned and interconnected. I had no idea this was what the retreat would give me, so being open to go with the ‘flow’ has surprised me by the outcome and clarity that has emerged. I’m very, very grateful for this and also for Karen’s gentle encouragement, ideas and support to make it happen.” Gill Davis
“This writing retreat has given me the time and space to form new habits and I know this will have a knock-on effect on my life. I've loved the fact that it has been fairly unstructured but Karen has been on hand and going with the group's needs each day. The best thing is that I can see the end of my book - and I've planned 2 more!” Sara Lasrado
