Your questions answered
Why attend a writing retreat?
In day-to-day life, it can often feel like there are not enough hours in the day to get your book written, and it goes to the bottom of the list. You can feel frustrated, fed up and give up because it doesn't get the quality time it needs. When you join a writing retreat, you step away from the daily grind, you only need to focus on yourself and your goals for your book. A week in the peaceful Spanish countryside will give you guilt-free time and space to finally make your book happen.
This is our 9th writing retreat, so we know the magic that happens when you get away. You can explore and clarify your thoughts with one of our experienced book coaches, meaning that you’ll gain focus on the goal for your book and get insights into what you wish to create. You can get feedback on what you’re developing, so that you find your voice, craft a solid blueprint, and create new easy-to-implement habits for when you return home.
And if you find yourself stuck, procrastinating or getting in your own way, we’ll help you to shift anything that’s preventing you from showing up as your very best self. So, you grow in confidence and belief in your message, and get absolute certainty that people want to read what you want to say.
Who is the writing retreat for?
The Librotas writing retreat is for experts, entrepreneurs, leaders, and change makers who are working on a non-fiction business building book or memoir.
When should you attend a writing retreat?
The Librotas writing retreat is an immersive experience that will support you at any stage during your book journey. Whether you need facilitated time to get your ideas and thoughts clear, uninterrupted time to write or edit your book, or space to plan your launch or marketing activities.
If you’re in the early stages, we’ll do a deep dive into your thoughts and ideas and help you to create a blueprint that links firmly with your business goals and aspirations. If you’ve already got a plan, you’ll have plenty of time for high quality writing, plus the chance to get feedback and explore your process and stories.
If you’ve reached the first draft, then you’ll get help to finish and polish your manuscript, so that you create a marketable product with a solid launch plan. And if you've already published your book, we can help you to formulate your marketing and social media plan.

We run the retreat at Casa Torreta Blanca in Partaloa, near Almeria. One of the sunniest regions in Spain and unspoiled by tourism, it is a beautiful place to explore the mountains and desert and only a 40-minute drive from the popular resort of Mojacar.
Casa Torreta Blanca is a converted Spanish farmhouse with a private pool, sun-soaked terraces, and a jacuzzi spa that overlooks mountains in the stunning Almanzora Valley. It is run by Pat and Jane Bryan, who will be looking after us during the retreat and will ensure we have everything we need to have a memorable experience.
What's a typical day like on the writing retreat?
On a typical day, we start around 8am with an optional walk through the local village or along the ramblas. This is a wonderful time for chatting and getting to know your fellow writers, often leading to informal discussions and coaching as we prepare for the day ahead.
We return to a sumptuous breakfast prepared by our chef and discuss what everyone would like to achieve that day. This might be quiet writing time, coaching and mentoring, feedback on a piece of writing, or a workshop on a specific topic (or a combination of all of these).
And, because there’s no restrictive agenda, you can create your own structure and way of working, with check-in points to ensure you’re on track and supported.
After a delicious lunch in the beautiful outdoor space, you can continue writing, relax, or do whatever you need to feel inspired and productive.
By late afternoon, it’s time for some relaxation ‒ perhaps a swim, a dip in the jacuzzi, a spa treatment, or reading a book in one of the many cozy nooks and crannies.
We end the day with a gorgeous meal, and sometimes a special treat like an outdoor film, yoga nidra meditation, or a chat with your new friends.
